North Cape by camper — the practical version
Norway Campers rents camper vans for the North Cape from our Tromsø depot (Salarøyvegen 159, Kvaløysletta), about 530 km / 7 hours' drive north to Honningsvåg via Alta. Rentals start at 860 NOK per day with unlimited kilometres included. The road to the cape is paved year-round; winter conditions change the experience dramatically.
Nordkapp sits at 71°10'21" N — the northernmost point of mainland Europe you can drive to. The cape itself is a sheer cliff plateau with a visitor centre, the famous Globe monument, and a 360° view over the Barents Sea. The closest town is Honningsvåg, 30 minutes south.
From our Tromsø depot in Kvaløysletta, the drive to Honningsvåg is about 530 km / 7 hours, naturally split into two days with an overnight stop in Alta. The road is paved the whole way and stays open year-round, although winter changes the experience dramatically.
4–6 days is the right length for a Nordkapp trip from Tromsø. Add Hammerfest (world's northernmost town) to make it 7. Combine with Lofoten on the return for a 10–12 day Arctic loop.
