Sognefjord by camper — the practical version
Norway Campers rents camper vans for Sognefjord from our Oslo depot (Sundbyvegen 3, Maura), about 5 hours' drive west via Hønefoss and the Filefjell mountain pass. Rentals start at 860 NOK per day with unlimited kilometres included. There is no camper rental depot on Sognefjord itself.
Sognefjord is 205 km long and 1,308 m deep — the longest and deepest fjord in Norway, and one of the most photographed. The fjord's "arms" hold most of the famous sights: Nærøyfjord (UNESCO World Heritage), Aurlandsfjord, Lustrafjord, Fjærlandsfjord. From the Oslo depot you can be at Lærdal (the head of the fjord) within a day's drive.
Most travellers spend 5–7 days on a Sognefjord-focused trip. Extend to 10 days to combine with Bergen, or 12+ days for the full southern fjord loop including Hardangerfjord and the Trolltunga hike.

Sample 7-day Sognefjord itinerary from Oslo
- Day 1 — Pick up the camper in Maura (Oslo). Drive 3h to Hemsedal for the first overnight.
- Day 2 — Hemsedal over Filefjell pass, down to Lærdal at the head of Sognefjord. Sleep at Lærdal Ferie- og Fritidssenter.
- Day 3 — Flåm village & Flåm Railway day. Park, ride, return to camper.
